hi, hello. ✨
on a blustery friday evening, we found ourselves frantically cleaning off the couch + dining table as fourteen church friends filled our small home. the kansas weather put a damper on the outdoor party for our church class, so we had to pivot. our home was the logical choice due to proximity.
i was hesitant because:
we have a small home + how were we going to fit everyone?!
we live in our home (LOL), so it wasn’t super clean.
but i found myself holding back happy tears by the end of it all. to see all the different faces + walks of life in our home - it was such a beautiful display of the church + the beauty of hospitality.
for some reason, the women ended up at the table + the men ended up on the couch + lawn chairs (small home, remember?) jared’s love language is making coffee for others, so he was living his best life. as we sipped coffee, we shared stories + laughed until we cried + talked for hours. i don’t think anyone was ready to leave.
i share this story because this would not have happened a year ago. we wouldn’t have even showed up to the party to begin with. to be candid, we were content with skipping most church events. but the Lord has been working in our hearts + our lives over the course of the last year in many ways — especially the area of community.
i can say i’m an introvert or that my home is small or a list of other excuses, but all i’m doing is missing out on the richness of community with other believers.

“the exodus is a parallel to the deliverance we experience through Christ. moses is a “type” of deliverer who points to the future, perfect Deliverer: Jesus Christ. in both instances, relationship (by deliverance) precedes holiness. because of who israel already is and the relationship they already have with God, they are called to be set apart. because of who we already are in Christ and the relationship we have with God, we are set apart, too.”
